Nothin' but a finished T-Shirt
Done, done, done. I brought the NBaT to the store, where it belongs- I knit it for Ivy, our lovely adult creepy model. Since Ivy still needs a cute skirt to go with it (her current skirt is a red crochet number I made for her last year- nice, but it would look awful with the t-shirt color), I was able to try it on and get a quick picture.
A rundown of thoughts on this pattern:
The Pattern:
An easy, fun, quick knit- thanks, Alison! The only change I made to the pattern was during the waist shaping- I knit for 24 rows after the last waist decrease, rather than 24 rows after the last decrease repeat (which would mean knit for 32 rows). Actually, I knit the 32 rows first, realized that it was too long, ripped it out and did it again. And, it took me a few times to get the neck looking good, and I detailed my modifications here. I'd like to make the t-shirt again, for myself, and when I do, I will knit it in the round (easy, cute seamless T!) and add an inch before I begin the waist shaping for a slightly longer shirt.
The Yarn:
Rowan All Seasons Cotton- nothing bad to say about this yarn, really. The blue was softer and slightly more splitty than the green. It is easy to work with and doesn't hurt my hands like some cottons, and on Addi Turbos it really glides nicely. I knit it kind of tight to get gauge on this pattern, and yet it isn't stiff. But I really fell in love with it when I tried it on- it is a very, very soft and cosy yarn to wear, and feels just wonderful next to the skin. It does show every little variation in tension, but that kind of stitch definition would be put to fabulous use in, say, a cabled cardigan or somesuch. And it washes well- I've already thrown this t in the washing machine (cold water, gentle cycle- I'm pretty sure the label says it can take rougher treatment... but why?) and it behaved nicely, no pilling or shrinkage. And of course, being Rowan, it comes in absolutely scrumptious colors.
This will be the last FO pic I'll be at liberty to post for the next few weeks. Thanks Alison, for the fun pattern, and thank you Nona, for the Knit Along.
