baftani, pletenje, knit
It has finally happened. I've converted my co-workers. Today, I brought a big box of wool and some needles to give away, and at lunchtime my friends Shadi and Ajla gathered in my office and the lessons began. Both women knit as kids (I've given Ajla a refresher course before; today we moved on to ribbing) so my job couldn't have been easier... a quick moment to get started, and they were off!
They each taught me the work for "knitting" in their respective first languages: Shadi taught me that, in Persian, knitting is "baftani;" in Bosnian (Ajla is from Sarajevo) the word is "pletenje." I think I should learn this word in as many languages as possible. After all, you never know where you may end up in your travels, and geez, what if you can't find wool once you get there?
This makes me so happy.

Absolutely, you should learn the word for knitting in as many languages as you can, then teach them to the rest of us.
I can think of nobody better than you to teach in any language! Your enthusiasm (and patience) are infectious.
Merry merry.
Soon, you will have taken over the WORLD!!!!!!
