cookie and the bunny
This batch of stuffies is my absolute favorite!
I got the Wee Wonderfuls Put-together Book Number 1 as soon as it came out, and could not wait to try out the patterns. One thing I love about Hillary's work is the incredible amount of detail she puts into her creations. At first glance, they scream "cute!" and they always have a very clean, charming look. But the patterns are so much more than "just" cute- she really fleshes out each detail. I mean, I never knew that stuffies should have removable loafers until I saw them in her book.
I love them! It is so much fun to make stuffies, and all the great details already in these patterns inspired me to come up with my own ideas to add and embellish. I made the bunny for my cousin Rhea (newly turned 7), and the bear for my cousin Will (her 4-year-old brother), and I while I love (!!!) the loafers on Rhea's little bunny, I thought Will's boyish bear needed sneaks.
I tried to make fat laces like on K-Swiss sneaks... next time maybe I'll use thicker thread? I liked the tube sock look, though.
Rhea broke her arm on the playground recently, so of course her Put-together Bunny needed a matching pink cast.
They make me smile... thanks for another great pattern, Hillary! And, oh yeah: the bear's name is now "Cookie."
