I'm not a morning person.  I admire morning people; I live with a morning person and think it is so cool that he's an early riser... but sadly, I've discovered that being a morning person is not contagious.  Sure, I get up earlier now than I used to, but my pre-coffee attitude is surly, at best.  I don't just like coffee, I need coffee.  Coffee is one of those little things in life that makes me happy.  That being said, I never realized I would have the desire to care for my coffee in a knitterly way - to swaddle my coffee in handmade, comforting wool - but then, brilliant Adrian created her French Press Cozy pattern, and I sort of fell in love.  Knitting + coffee = joy, right?  Even better = knitting with my own handspun + french press coffee.  So much joy!  I just love it.

(By the way, I love that mug, too... I found it in a thrift store in Tulsa where I hit the jackpot this Christmas.  $3.00 sweaters with tags from Anthropologie still on them.  A pair of matching vintage blue Samsonite suitcases for $10.00.  Superfunky cookie/tea jar sets... and that mug.  Love.) 

Grindy coffee bits, all settled in at the bottom... mmmm, french press coffee.  I like black coffee, really strong.  You? 

My favorite design detail, I think, is the little hole at the top.  I slip the cozy on the french press before I plunge the press, even.  That's three extra minutes of heat-saving cozy use!  You should make one.  Seriously... right now.  I think this was such a fun way to use my handspun.  I used Spunky Eclectic Superwash Merino in the Juniper Berries colorway, and I couldn't be happier with how it spun up.  Sproingy, squishy, and very, very soft.  Now, I was trying to get an ultra-funky Colinette Point 5 type of thick/thin yarn going, but I just don't have those kind of skills yet, I guess.  I love the way the yarn turned out just the same.  I spun the fiber up as I needed it and still have lots left over -  about 2 oz, I think.  Simple little practical project.  So satisfying!
