memorized

I seem to have latched on to the Child's First Sock in Shell Pattern, from Nancy's Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks. This is my third pair! I know it won't be my last, either. I just love this stitch pattern, and think the finished socks are always so pretty.

malabrigo sock + nancy bush pattern = mmmm

I'm knitting up the amazing Malabrigo Sock Yarn. My word - it is soft. It shows the stitch pattern so perfectly; this minty aqua colorway has the most subtle variegation. An easy, memorized, pretty little knit. It's far too hot to think about wearing wool socks, but these will be snuggly once the weather changes.

Today I am taking it easy; Jess busted me working earlier and reminded me to take the day off (which cracked me up). It's Hitchcock day on Turner Classic Movies (I love that they play them without commercials), so I just watched Vertigo for the millionth time. I love that movie - the soundtrack, the amazing shots all around San Francisco and the peninsula (makes me homesick!), the creepy mystery plot. On last year's Labor Day trip, we took long, beautiful walks through lots of the neighborhoods pictured in Vertigo - that was such a golden weekend.

Right now, I have to buckle down and make the incredibly pressing decision of what time I need to start marinating the BBQ beer chicken and when to bake the brownies. Happy July 4th!

Although I've never knit that sock pattern, I've always admired them.

For BBQ tonight I tried marinating some beef that's been in the freezer too long! But brownies sound so yummy right now!

Enjoy your long weekend!

I love that pattern. I made it from STR for the last Sockapalooza. They were my favorite pair of socks I ever knit and then I never heard back from my pal. No thank you or anything. I miss those socks...

OMG brownies sound so good right now! How could I have missed Hitchcock day? (We've had the Twilight Zone marathon on, maybe that's why...) Vertigo is one of my favorites! Dial M for Murder is another.

Hmm...Malabrigo sock...I think I need...

Those socks are soooo pretty!

And...were you at Von's today? I could have sworn I spotted you in the baking aisle, but when I headed there after grabbing my iced coffee, you (?) were gone.

I made brownies today too!

You ever have that experience where people around you are crazy for some thing... a food, a movie, a band, a director? My circle of friends were *crazy* for Hitchcock movies, but I just didn't get it. Then! I watched Vertigo and was captivated; I finally got it. I love that movie. (Aside: Have you ever seen "Rebecca," Hitchcock's take on Daphne du Maurier's book? If not, I highly recommend it. It's a great story, and he did a fantastic job adapting it.)

De-lurking to comment on that luscious Malabrigo sock yarn--wherever did you find it? It looks lovely in that deeply textured pattern. I'll have to check out Vertigo for the SF scenery (Rear Window is one of my faves, but it's far less scenic).

Happy Belated 4th. I spent my 4th pretty much unplugged and it was great. :) Hopefully we can chat soon!

Wow! I think I'm going to have to steal my copy of that book back from the person who's had it on permanent loan since I got it! Love the yarn, too.

Those are beautiful socks. I'm on a sort of anti-sock kick right now, but that pattern with malabrigo sock yarn might just be able to lure me back to the dark side.

Lovely socks! Had to smile though at what use you may have for cosy socks in LA! On the other hand July in England is cold and wet, so send as many pairs as you can!!!!!!!
