swatching

swatching: Rinconada Mitts

I love swatching. Getting to know the yarn, the stitch pattern, trying something new. So much possibility in beginning. This stitch will be the main part of the Rinconada mitts; I'm now working on different rib patterns for the cuff that will flow nicely into this. I do most of my knitting in the morning, right after waking. Looking forward to waking up to these!

It looks gorgeous! :) Sure would be nice to try knitting with yak fiber some day, I've heard great things.

I've been envying you SO much for the past weeks - reading your tweets about waking up around six like there's nothing to it... I've been having the worst time getting up in the mornings lately, even though I love waking up early! It's strange. Wish I had a Charlie alarm, I'm sure he doesn't have a snooze button. ;)

Can't wait to see more of those mitts!

I love those two colors together. If you lived closer you may have to fear me snatching and running off with your mittens. ;) I love how the cream columns stand out from rest of the knitting. Which stitch pattern is that?

I love swatching too! I'm always surprised by people who hate it. As frustrating and trying as it can be, swatching is knitting ... and I love knitting. The preparation just heightens the tension (no pun intended)!

Beautiful swatch - and you sell the experience of swatching so well, it *almost* makes me want to stop being such a lazy knitter and start doing them myself. Heh. Liking the sound of the early morning knitting as well... in fact I may even give it a try tomorrow.
