sometimes it's gonna be hard

Yesterday's run (Week 2, Day 2 of Couch to 5K) was hard. HARD. It was hot, and Charlie was more interested in smelling the flowers and bushes and rocks during our walking parts than he was in actually walking, and for the first time I found myself thinking "ugh when is the run part going to end!?" in every run interval.

BUT. I sacked up and did it anyway. As esteem-building as the easy runs have been, I think getting through that hard one was even more important. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

The playlist:

 • Let Down (Radiohead)
 • Paper Planes (M.I.A.)
 • Upgrade U (Beyonce)
 • Johnny Too Beef (Mos Dub)
 • Poker Face (Lady GaGa)
 • Work It (Missy Elliot)
 • Sweet Dreams (Beyonce)
 • Love Letter to Japan (The Bird and the Bee)

For my next run (the final run of Week 2, woo-hoo!) I'm going to go out a little later, I think. It cools down nicely here in the evenings and that would make for a much more pleasant run!

So after reading your initial post on starting the couch to 5K regiment, I have decided I'm going to do it. So you are a motivator to me Dearie. I will read your posts and think to myself "that will be me in a week!" ;)
I wish you luck with the upcoming runs
Cheers,
Leah

Okay... I'm inspired too. I keep meaning to start this. I'm going for a run tonight.

And I like the playlist! Keep postin' 'em.

You're inspiring to me too! I'm running a 5k on Jul. 3rd and your blog has motivated me to get out there and train! I use IndieSoupRunner podcast for my playlist plus my own mixes. I agree that running later in the day is best, and I even live in Wisconsin. I usually run around 7pm as to not overheat! Plus, the trails seem to be a bit less hectic and make the run more enjoyable.

Congrats on pushing through until the end of the hard run. I know there are some parts of my life where I would benefit from just sucking up and pushing through it until the end. Your running is a great inspiration for me to get off my dupa. :)

I meant to mention this before when you were talking about C25K on twitter/flickr/whatever but back when I was doing the program I really liked this podcast - http://runningintoshape.com/5k-training-downloads/ - she plays great pop music and tells you when to run/walk and keeps track of the timing and everything. The music isn't all my favorite things ever, but there's more on there that I like, or takes me back in a fun way, than any other one I've ever seen! I just mention this in case you run into a week when you don't have time to make up your own playlist or something.

i am also doing a running program to get myself off the couch, and i agree...it is sooo hard. i've been a bit of a slacker lately though so you motivate me to get back to it. also, check out some of my own knits at http://www.purl2tog.wordpress.com/

Lots of specialists tell that mortgage loans aid people to live the way they want, because they can feel free to buy needed things. Moreover, different banks offer auto loan for all people.

I just stumbled on your blog, and amazing! you were talking about running. I recently completed a half-marathon, something I never thought I could do considering that I am not "athletic." The hard runs are important - both mentally and physically - but remember that if they are REALLY hard, you might be better off going shorter than you planned. I had a couple of really really bad runs during my training. It's easy to feel like a bad run is reason enough to quit, but it's only one day, and if you follow your schedule you'll make it! The schedule makes it seem do-able, and in a few weeks, you won't believe what you can accomplish!
