happy new year!
2007 was a wonderful year for me, in so many, many ways. Some struggles, challenges, opportunities, travel, and lots of laughs. So far, 2008 has been fantastic (good food, great company - Jacob and I are just hanging out and laughing, good champagne, and good movies, and even some lovely knitting). I have project pictures to share, some absolutely incredible gifts to show (from my blogfriend James and my Ravelry Helper Sekrit Santa Erin), and a roundup of 2007 knitting projects. But for now - just a hello, and some vacation pictures from Christmas with my family in Capitola.
I hope you all are enjoying your day, and having a wonderful start to the new year. Thank you to every one of you who reads my blog! I enjoy it so much - thanks.
warm feet weekend
Jacob's camo socks are finished, and already keeping his feet warm and cozy.
The pattern: Gentleman's Fancy Sock, from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush. I omitted the decreases down the leg and shortened the cuff a bit to fit Jacob's feet without running out of yarn. The camo yarn (Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock) looks great in the stitch - mottled and rich. The needles got no rest before I cast on another pair. Gotta keep the socks flowing!
slowly but surely
The knitting is done - round after round of soft organic cotton stripes.
The backing is made - sweet soft flannels.
Now for the handwork - quilt them together, follow the lines, bind the edges, add an eyelet ruffle. Coming together.
