Reversible cables peppered throughout a single-rib stitch pattern give just enough interest to a classic, simple, and extra-long scarf, with two different widths from which to choose - narrow or wide. Riverwalk is perfect for a single strand of a bulky, cozy yarn, or for two strands of worsted-weight yarn held together.

The narrow version of Riverwalk has one cable repeat; the wider version has two. Selvedge stitches, worked by slipping the final stitch of the row purlwise with yarn in front and then knitting the first stitch of each row, give a smooth, neat edge to the scarf.

The pattern is a 4-page PDF file (one cover page, 3 pattern pages) and includes detailed construction notes, color photographs, and both charted and written instructions. Riverwalk is a breezy knit for those familiar with cables, and is a great next-step project for confident beginners who are able to knit and purl and are ready to move on to a more involved stitch pattern.
